Health Minister Visits Shai Osudoku District Hospital Ahead of Free Primary Healthcare Launch

The Minister of Health, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has led a high-level delegation to the Shai Osudoku District Hospital (SODH) in Dodowa as part of preparations toward the launch of the Free Primary Healthcare Programme.

The working visit, which included the Director-General and senior officials from the Ghana Health Service (GHS), highlighted government’s commitment to strengthening primary healthcare delivery at the grassroots and ensuring equitable access to healthcare services across the country.

During the visit, the Minister and his team engaged with hospital management and frontline health workers, while also assessing the facility’s readiness to support the implementation of the programme. The engagement reaffirmed the national goal of achieving universal access to quality primary healthcare without financial constraints.

Management of SODH expressed pride in the hospital’s role in the rollout of the initiative, noting that staff remain committed to delivering quality and compassionate care to patients and surrounding communities.

The hospital also conveyed appreciation to the Minister, the Director-General, and the Ghana Health Service leadership for the visit, describing it as a strong show of support and encouragement ahead of the programme’s official launch.
