The Mayor of Wa, Hon. Nural Issah Danwana, commissioned the containers and presented equipment to strengthen waste collection and promote a cleaner environment.

As part of the initiative, the Assembly launched several sanitation programmes aimed at improving environmental cleanliness, monitoring waste disposal and ensuring effective sanitation management across the metropolis.

The programmes include the City Guards Sanitation Watch, City Cleaners Daily Routine Programme, Environmental Officers’ Zonal Oversight Programme, Sanitation Surveillance Volunteers, and the Tricycle Sari Lori (Bola Taxi) Initiative.

The initiatives are expected to strengthen sanitation enforcement, improve routine cleaning and encourage community participation in maintaining a clean environment.

To support implementation, motorbikes were provided to environmental officers to enhance their mobility and enable them to monitor sanitation activities within their designated zones.

Wheelbarrows were also presented to the Airport Corner Boys to assist with waste collection and other sanitation-related activities.

The interventions form part of the Assembly’s broader efforts to address sanitation challenges, improve waste management and promote a healthier environment for residents of the Wa Metropolis.

The Assembly is expected to rely on collaboration among sanitation officers, volunteers, waste collectors and residents to ensure the sustainability of the programmes.
