The market, which is located at the Kwabenya MA School Park, is also expected to serve as a temporary place of selling for traders, who were recently ejected for selling at various unauthorized places.

Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the area, Janet Tunlasi-Mensah says, that the market will help serve people living in and around Kwabenya, Musuko, Ashongman Estate and its surrounding communities who would have traveled all the way to the Dome market to engage in their usual buying and selling.

She said, the assembly remains adamant in ensuring that other necessary guidelines and protocols such as frequent hand washing under running water and the use of alcohol-based hand sanitizer is strictly adhered to by all traders in the municipality.

She added that the Assembly is also campaigning for the strict compliance of the “no mask no entry” at public places to curb the spread of the deadly Coronavirus in the municipality and the country as a whole.

She revealed that the Assembly had since the outbreak of COVID 19 taken some necessary and bold steps to decongest the Dome market, which is one of the most patronized markets in the capital.

The MCE, who has for some time now been advocating for people to wear nose mask to prevent them from contracting the deadly virus also noted, that the Assembly has distributed about 10, 000 nose masks to traders and taxi drivers in the municipality.

Meanwhile, Ghana’s case count has so far increased to 2,719 with the country recording 18 deaths and 294 recoveries.

Greater Accra still tops the chart with about 2,332 cases so far.
