The report, which constitutes the first comprehensive multidimensional poverty mapping of all 261 districts in the country, revealed that 51.6 per cent of the population in Yunyoo-Nasuan experienced multidimensional poverty in 2025.

The findings also indicated that six of the districts with the highest poverty incidences nationwide are located in the North East Region, highlighting the need for intensified development interventions and targeted investments in the affected areas.

The multidimensional poverty assessment measures deprivation beyond income levels, taking into account factors such as access to education, healthcare, housing, sanitation, and overall living conditions.

Despite the challenges identified in some districts, the report noted that approximately 250 districts across the country recorded reductions in multidimensional poverty levels, reflecting progress in national efforts to improve living standards and reduce deprivation.

Speaking on the significance of the report, the Government Statistician, Dr. Alhassan Iddrisu, emphasized that the findings should not be viewed as a mechanism for naming and shaming districts, but rather as an important evidence-based tool to guide policy decisions, budget allocation, and the equitable distribution of development resources.

According to him, the report provides critical data that will enable government agencies, local authorities, and development partners to better target interventions and address the specific needs of vulnerable communities.

The findings are expected to play a key role in informing development planning and strengthening efforts aimed at promoting inclusive growth and reducing disparities across districts in Ghana.
