The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. William Kofi Adzowu, disclosed this during his sessional address at the Third Ordinary Meeting of the Third Session of the Third Assembly, held at the Old Court Building in Wawasi.
He explained that the project was intended to address the accommodation challenges confronting the two directorates, which have affected their administrative operations and service delivery.
According to him, the provision of a modern and centralised office facility would create a more conducive working environment, improve coordination and enhance productivity.
"The project will help both directorates to operate from a befitting office and vastly improve on productivity," Hon. Adzowu stated.
He reaffirmed the Assembly's commitment to prioritising infrastructure development that directly impacts residents' well-being and supports sustainable development within the municipality..jpg)
Touching on other development interventions, the MCE announced that the Assembly had procured a new 30-seater Coaster bus to strengthen its operational capacity.
He said the vehicle would facilitate the transportation of technical officers, Assembly Members and departmental heads for project monitoring, field inspections and other official assignments across the municipality.
The bus is also expected to support staff participation in regional workshops, official functions and inter-agency meetings, while improving the Assembly's ability to mobilise personnel for community engagements and development outreach programmes.
Hon. Adzowu further disclosed that work on the Assembly's new administrative block had reached 85 per cent completion.
He said the facility, when completed, would provide a modern and centralised working environment for the various departments and units of the Assembly, improving coordination and eliminating some of the logistical challenges associated with the existing office arrangements.
He added that the procurement process for furnishing the facility was almost complete, with management taking steps to prepare the building for occupation.
"I wish to inform the House that the procurement process for furnishing the new Administration Block is almost completed. The Assembly is taking the necessary steps towards furnishing and preparing the facility for occupation," he stated.
On revenue mobilisation, the MCE reported that the Assembly had generated GH?2,913,528.46, representing 87 per cent of its approved revenue target of GH?3,348,883.29.
He attributed the performance to the Assembly's revenue mobilisation strategies and efforts to strengthen its internally generated funds to support development initiatives.
Despite the progress, Hon. Adzowu assured the Assembly Members that management would intensify its revenue mobilisation efforts to achieve the remaining target.
"Management is still working hard to rake in more revenue to meet the developmental aspirations of the good people of Obuasi East Municipality," he assured.
He further pledged the Assembly's commitment to ensuring the prudent, transparent and accountable utilisation of public funds, stressing that every pesewa spent must deliver value for money.
