The inspection aimed to assess escalating flood risks and the dangers posed to communities during heavy downpours. For over 20 years, the river’s pathway has remained choked and blocked, causing devastating floods that threaten lives and destroy settlements during the rainy season.

Addressing the concerns, Hon. Philibert Selorm Fummey assured residents that a serious dredging exercise will be undertaken in the coming days. The initiative will open up the river’s pathway to ensure the free flow of water, mitigate flooding, and protect the lives and properties of the people living along its banks.

“This exercise is critical to safeguarding our communities. We are committed to taking decisive action to prevent further flood disasters and secure the safety of our people,” the Municipal Chief Executive stated.

The inspection underscores the municipality’s commitment to proactive disaster management and sustainable community safety measures.
