The support was provided under the Assembly’s Economic Empowerment Support Programme for PWDs.

The programme was led by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Awal Mohammed Haruna, and attended by the Municipal Coordinating Director, Deputy Director of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), Information Officer, Heads of Departments, Assembly staff, beneficiaries and other stakeholders.

The initiative forms part of the Assembly’s commitment to promoting inclusive development and improving the economic well-being of PWDs by providing them with the necessary tools to engage in self-employment and sustainable economic activities.

The beneficiaries received a range of equipment to support their businesses and vocational activities, including deep freezers, mini fufu processing machines, a tomato processing machine, a groundnut milling machine, knitting machines and industrial sewing machines.

Speaking at the event, Hon. Awal Haruna reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to empowering PWDs to become economically self-reliant and contribute meaningfully to the development of their communities.

He urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the equipment, saying the support was intended to strengthen their businesses, improve their livelihoods and create sustainable sources of income.

He further encouraged the beneficiaries to maintain and properly manage the equipment to ensure that the intervention achieved its intended purpose.

The beneficiaries expressed their appreciation to the Ayawaso North Municipal Assembly, the MCE, the Member of Parliament and other stakeholders for their continued support and commitment to improving the welfare and economic prospects of Persons with Disabilities.
