Kome Assembly Member laments challenges facing electoral area

He cited the unavailability of a laboratory at the Kodzi Health Centre as a major concern, which hindered quality delivery of healthcare services to the communities.
Mr. Dzakpasu, told the Ghana News Agency, in an interview that the communities in the area have also suffered from inadequate teachers in many Basic Schools, which has affected the quality of education and the academic performance of pupils.
"Businesswomen in my electoral area are struggling to access start-up capital which limited them to their ability to expand their businesses and contribute to the local economy to uplift their standard of living," he said.
He explained that other challenges in the area were lack of sanitation tools and equipment for communal labour which posed a serious risk to public health and hygiene in the communities especially during community gatherings.
He said that inadequate street light in certain parts of the area in various communities were a threat and security concerned to the public which made it difficult for residents to move around safely at night.
"We have a lot of challenges here at Kome Electoral Area; another one is the absence of a community centres which is depriving residents of a venue for social gatherings and community activities."
Mr. Dzakpasu also mentioned that the poor state of the Kome Road, specifically the stretch from Atito to Fiaxor, was in dire need of reconstruction to prevent untimely and unfortunate accidents on the roads and improve vehicular movement.
The Assembly Member appealed also to the government, non-government organisations, philanthropists, individuals, among others, to come to the aid of the communities to help solve the pressing challenges the area.
Madam Millicent Ametorxe, another resident of the area, expressed the hope that the authorities would take note of their plight and take concrete steps to address the challenges.
She said that the Kome Electoral Area is in need of development, and it is expected that stakeholders including the District Chief Executive (DCE) and Member of Parliament of Anloga have to work in unity and come together to bring about positive change to the communities.
She emphasised the call from the Assembly Memberthat development is a collective responsibility which demands that everyone in community plays an active role to improvethe lives of the people in the Kome Electoral Area.
