The district currently boasts a total of 144 educational institutions, including 101 public basic schools, 40 private basic schools, two senior high schools, and a Nursing and Midwifery Training College. At the basic level alone, enrolment stands at an impressive 36,925 pupils, reflecting increased access to education.
To support teaching and learning, the district has a total of 794 teachers, comprising 738 trained and 56 untrained personnel, working across 10 educational circuits to ensure effective supervision and management.
Despite these gains, several school facilities are in a dilapidated state, raising concerns among stakeholders about the quality of the learning environment.
Education authorities and community leaders have expressed the need for urgent rehabilitation of aging infrastructure to ensure that the rising number of pupils is matched with safe and conducive classrooms.
The situation highlights a growing gap between access and quality, with calls for increased investment to modernize school facilities and strengthen the district’s education system.
Stakeholders remain optimistic that with the right interventions, Twifo Ati-Morkwa can not only expand access but also deliver quality education that meets the needs of its growing student population.
