The exercise forms part of the Assembly's commitment to promoting inclusive development and ensuring that persons with disabilities benefit from government social protection programmes and other support initiatives. Through the monitoring exercise, the Assembly sought to assess the circumstances of beneficiaries and establish how existing interventions were contributing to their livelihoods, economic activities and general wellbeing.

The initiative also provides an opportunity for the Assembly to identify challenges confronting persons with disabilities and determine areas where additional assistance and interventions may be required. The monitoring exercise is particularly important in ensuring that support provided through the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) reaches the intended beneficiaries and contributes meaningfully to improving their living conditions.

The Assembly has, over the years, implemented various interventions to support persons with disabilities, including the provision of financial assistance, business equipment, educational support and assistance with medical expenses.

In December 2025, for instance, the District Chief Executive supported 76 persons with disabilities with various items and cash assistance to promote economic empowerment and improve their livelihoods. The items included deep freezers, fufu-pounding machines, industrial sewing machines, laptops, cocoa spraying machines and shop containers.

The Assembly also provided financial assistance for school fees, medical bills and business capital through its allocation under the disability component of the Common Fund. The monitoring exercise therefore represents an important aspect of ensuring accountability and assessing the impact of such interventions on beneficiaries.

The Assin South District Assembly continues to prioritise social inclusion and the welfare of vulnerable groups, with the aim of creating opportunities for persons with disabilities to participate meaningfully in economic and community development.

Through regular monitoring and targeted support, the Assembly seeks to strengthen its social protection efforts and promote a district where all residents have opportunities to improve their livelihoods and wellbeing.
