The week-long exercise, on the theme:“Every Child Deserves a Healthy Future; Invest in Your Child by Weighing Regularly,” was aimed at deepening public awareness on child growth monitoring and the importance of preventive health measures.

Speaking at the launch held at the Kpone Health Centre, Mr Samuel Tetteh Kwashie Morton, the Kpone-Katamanso Municipal Chief Executive, emphasised the Assembly’s commitment to improving child health and pledged continued support for the health sector.

“As a municipality, we believe that children are the foundation of our future. Regular growth monitoring is a simple but critical way to identify health risks early and prevent lifelong consequences,” Mr. Morton stated.

He later presented assorted weighing equipment including infant scales, and weighing slings, to the Municipal Health Directorate to support the campaign.

Receiving the items, Dr Esther Priscilla Biamah Danquah, the Municipal Director of Health Services, expressed gratitude to the assembly for the gesture, noting however tha poor road infrastructure remained a major challenge in accessing healthcare in several parts of the municipality.

“Some of our outreach teams struggle to reach remote communities due to the deplorable nature of our road networks. This does not only affect immunisation and weighing exercises but compromises the entire primary healthcare delivery system,” Dr. Danquah lamented.

She urged stakeholders, including the assembly to prioritise road development as part of broader health interventions, adding that Kpone-Katamanso still needed a Municipal Hospital.

The event brought together health professionals, assembly members, traditional leaders, and school children, who were taken through practical demonstrations on child weighing and nutrition counseling.
