Sekyere Central Launches Chicks Distribution under Government’s “NkokoNkinkiti” Programme

The Sekyere Central District has officially launched the distribution of chicks under the Government’s flagship “Nkoko Nketinkiti” poverty alleviation programme, marking a major step towards strengthening household incomes and promoting food security.

The launch ceremony, held at the District’s designated poultry farm at Sekyere Beposo, attracted district officials, agricultural officers, and programme beneficiaries.

Addressing participants, the District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Samuel Somuah, described the initiative as an innovative and practical approach by government to tackle poverty through economic empowerment at the household level. He explained that the programme enables beneficiaries to engage in poultry farming as a sustainable source of income.

Hon. Somuah encouraged beneficiaries to take full advantage of the intervention by committing themselves to proper poultry management practices to ensure the success and long-term impact of the programme.

The District Director of Agriculture, Mr. Michael Konadu, on his part, advised beneficiaries to strictly follow recommended poultry farming guidelines to safeguard the health and productivity of the birds. He assured participants that Agricultural Extension Officers would provide continuous technical support through regular monitoring visits to guide beneficiaries and track progress.

The “Nkoko Nkitinkiti” programme forms part of government’s broader agenda to reduce poverty, enhance food security, and promote sustainable agricultural development, particularly in rural and peri-urban communities.

With the official launch completed, beneficiaries in the Sekyere Central District are expected to begin poultry production activities that will contribute to improved livelihoods and local economic growth.
