The campaign would also collect reliable data on the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) programme in nine out of the 12 politically administrative districts and municipalities of the region.

It sought to raise and upscale public awareness about the GNHR and the reassessment of the LEAP programme by identifying and enrolling deserving households into social protection programmes.

“The campaign reinforces the importance of reliable data in ensuring equitable and targeted delivery of support services”, Mr Imoro Ayibani, the Bono Regional Director of ISD stated.

Speaking at a ceremony in Sunyani, he said the campaign specifically targeted rural, semi- urban and urban households identified for GNHR expansion, saying some local communities in the Wenchi, Dormaa Central, Sunyani West and Sunyani East Municipalities as well as Banda, Tain, Dormaa West, and Dormaa East District were expected to benefit from the outreach.

The GNHR is a technical unit of the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection and mandated to gather socio-economic data to improve targeting and delivery of social protection programmes.

Mr. Ayibani said: “The GNHR plays a critical role in shaping Ghana’s social protection strategies by maintaining an integrated database accessible to relevant ministries and agencies” explaining that the exercise was designed to eliminate duplication and enhance efficiency in data.

He said the reassessment of the LEAP also aimed at reviewing existing beneficiaries and expanding coverage to include households experiencing extreme poverty in previously unregistered areas.

Mr. Ayibani advised eligible households to participate by providing accurate information to be considered for the implementation of social intervention programmes of the government.
