The Assembly's administrative block, which commenced in 2019, is the flagship project under the initiative. Construction stalled before completion, forcing the Assembly to operate from rented office accommodation for several years.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Anwel Sadat Ahmed, said the continued payment of rent had placed a significant financial burden on the Assembly, costing millions of Ghana cedis. He disclosed that the administrative block, which is about 70 percent complete, has been awarded to BB Viderk Limited, with an eight-month completion timeline.

Hon. Sadat Ahmed described the completion of the projects as essential to improving service delivery and enhancing the operational efficiency of the Assembly.

The other abandoned projects handed over for completion include the Municipal Chief Executive's official residence, a municipal court facility, a municipal judge's bungalow, and a 14-seater public toilet facility.

The MCE explained that funding for the projects has been secured through the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF), with 20 percent of the Assembly's allocation earmarked for completing abandoned legacy projects within the municipality.

He assured the contractors of the Assembly's commitment to honouring interim payment certificates promptly to facilitate the smooth execution of the projects.

Hon. Sadat Ahmed commended President John Dramani Mahama for prioritising the completion of stalled infrastructure projects, stressing that development should remain a continuous national agenda regardless of changes in political leadership.

On behalf of the contractors, the Project Manager of BB Viderk Limited, Mr. Mohammed Awal, assured the Assembly that the company has the technical expertise and resources required to complete the administrative block within the stipulated eight-month period.
