The distribution, held at the District Assembly forecourt, provided carefully selected tools to 66 individuals—marking the largest such intervention in the district in recent times. The initiative is designed to foster economic independence and improve living standards.

Mr. Carlton Mawulorm, the District Director of Social Development, explained that beneficiaries were chosen based on the potential for the items to transform their livelihoods. “This initiative reaffirms our firm commitment to inclusive development, economic empowerment, and the dignity of persons with disabilities,” he stated. “Our goal is to ensure enhanced independence so that no one is left behind.”

Mr. Yaw Darko, Chairman of the Atwima Mponua Disabled Association, expressed heartfelt gratitude for the government’s decision to increase the Disability Fund under the District Assemblies Common Fund. “This gesture shows a growing recognition of our needs and a genuine effort toward social inclusion,” he noted.

District Chief Executive, Hon. Issahak Ibrahim, commended the Assembly’s Social Development Committee, chaired by Hon. Issaka Kombat, for its sterling performance. He urged beneficiaries to use the items productively. “Remember, disability is not inability,” he emphasized.

Hon. Ibrahim clarified that the distribution is part of a strategic poverty reduction program and tasked the committee with monitoring usage to ensure the items contribute to sustainable local economic development.

The distributed items—including industrial sewing machines, fufu pounding machines, hair dryers, barbering kits, deep freezers, bags of rice, cooking oil, and charcoal—were chosen to support both income generation and daily sustenance.

The event, attended by assembly members, staff, media, families, and the public, was filled with scenes of joy and renewed hope. It stood not merely as a distribution day, but as a symbol of recognition, empowerment, and the shared belief that with the right support, every individual can contribute meaningfully to society.
