East Gonja MCE Visits Salaga Municipal Hospital Over Missing Neonate Incident

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for East Gonja, Hon. Kassim Rabiu Yazid, has visited the Salaga Municipal Hospital following reports of the disappearance of a female neonate from the facility’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

The visit was to engage management of the hospital, gather firsthand information on the circumstances surrounding the incident, and express the Assembly’s concern over issues relating to patient safety and quality healthcare delivery within the municipality.

During the engagement, the MCE interacted with hospital authorities and staff to better understand the situation and identify possible measures to strengthen security and safety systems at the facility.

Hon. Kassim Rabiu Yazid emphasized the importance of safeguarding patients, especially vulnerable newborns, and assured residents of the Assembly’s commitment to working with health authorities to support improvements in healthcare services across the municipality.

Management of the Salaga Municipal Hospital is expected to continue collaborating with relevant authorities to address the matter and ensure enhanced safety protocols at the facility.

The visit forms part of the East Gonja Municipal Assembly’s efforts to promote accountability, strengthen partnerships with health institutions, and ensure residents have confidence in healthcare services within the municipality.
