The exercise, held on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at the Abetifi Durbar Grounds, was led by the District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Samuel Asamoah.

The intervention forms part of efforts by the Assembly to equip Persons with Disabilities with sustainable livelihood opportunities to enable them to establish or expand businesses and improve their economic wellbeing.

The beneficiaries received a variety of livelihood support items, including deep freezers, ice chests, electric, hand and industrial sewing machines, fufu pounding machines, grinding machines, popcorn machines, water pumping machines, a poly tank and a cutlass-sharpening machine.

The programme was attended by Nananom of Kwahu Abetifi, staff of the Kwahu East District Assembly and the beneficiary PWDs.

Hon. Samuel Asamoah said the intervention demonstrates the Assembly's commitment to ensuring that Persons with Disabilities are given the necessary support and opportunities to become economically independent and self-reliant.

The initiative is also aimed at promoting social inclusion while ensuring that vulnerable groups actively participate in the economic development of the district.

The Assembly noted that empowering PWDs with productive equipment and tools would help beneficiaries generate sustainable incomes and improve their living conditions.

The intervention forms part of the government's broader development agenda under President John Dramani Mahama, with a focus on creating opportunities and improving the livelihoods of citizens.

With 120 livelihood support items reaching 70 beneficiaries, Kwahu East has taken another powerful step towards empowerment, inclusion and self-reliance for Persons with Disabilities.
