The events brought together newly elected community representatives, traditional authorities, district officials, and residents who gathered to witness a significant milestone aimed at strengthening grassroots participation and effective local administration within the district.

The newly elected Unit Committee Members were officially administered the Oath of Office and the Oath of Allegiance, marking the beginning of their responsibilities as community representatives. Their roles are expected to include supporting local development initiatives, mobilising residents, and promoting effective communication between communities and the District Assembly.

The programme also saw the election of Area Council Members, who will serve as key actors in local decision-making, community mobilisation, and the coordination of development activities at the sub-district level.

Addressing participants, officials of the Assembly emphasised the importance of accountable, transparent, and collaborative leadership in achieving sustainable development. They urged the newly constituted councils to work closely with traditional leaders, opinion leaders, and community members to identify local challenges and support the implementation of the Assembly’s development programmes.

The inauguration of the Acherensua and Hwidiem Area Councils marks the start of a new administrative cycle, providing the councils with the mandate to perform their statutory functions and serve as important links between residents and the District Assembly.

The Asutifi South District Assembly congratulated all members who were sworn into office and assured them of its continued support to strengthen grassroots governance, encourage community participation, and improve service delivery across the district.
