Asutifi South: Assembly Discusses Key Issues Affecting Community Well-being

The Social Welfare Department of the Asutifi South District Assembly has convened a meeting of the Social Services Sub-Committee at the District Assembly Conference Hall to deliberate on key issues affecting the well-being of residents across the district.

The meeting brought together representatives from the Education, Health and Water sectors to assess progress, identify challenges and strengthen collaboration in the delivery of essential social services.

Chairman of the Sub-Committee, Hon. Ibrahim Mohammed, who presided over the meeting, welcomed members and outlined the agenda, emphasising the need for coordinated efforts to improve the quality of life of residents.

The Education Department presented updates on developments at Acherensua Presbyterian School and also briefed members on the recently concluded West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE). The department reported encouraging improvements in students' performance, prompting members to commend the efforts of teachers, students and parents. The committee further called for sustained collaboration among schools, families and community leaders to maintain and build on the progress achieved.

The committee also considered issues relating to healthcare delivery in the district. Officials from the Health Directorate highlighted current public health concerns, including maternal and child health, and stressed the importance of strengthening public health education, disease prevention and access to quality healthcare services.

Water supply challenges in Hwidiem also featured prominently during the meeting. The Community Water and Sanitation Agency (CWSA) briefed members on the current situation, acknowledging intermittent water supply in the area. The agency assured the committee that measures were being implemented to restore reliable access to safe and potable water for residents.

In his closing remarks, Hon. Ibrahim Mohammed expressed appreciation to members for their active participation and constructive contributions. He urged stakeholders to continue working collaboratively to address the district's social development needs and improve service delivery.

The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment by all stakeholders to strengthen education, healthcare and water services as part of efforts to enhance the welfare and living standards of communities across the Asutifi South District.
