According to the MCE, the targeted interventions have provided hundreds of beneficiaries with sustainable sources of livelihood, enabling them to become more self-reliant and economically productive.
Hon. Boakye explained that the Assembly's Disability Fund Disbursement Programme has focused on equipping persons with disabilities with the necessary resources and support to establish or expand income-generating activities.
He noted that the initiative forms part of broader efforts to promote social inclusion, restore dignity and improve the living conditions of persons with disabilities within the municipality.
"The objective is to empower persons with disabilities to become financially independent and actively contribute to the socio-economic development of our communities," he stated.
The MCE indicated that the positive outcomes of the interventions are increasingly evident, particularly in Koforidua, where the once-common sight of persons with disabilities soliciting alms on major streets has noticeably declined.
He reaffirmed the Assembly's commitment to ensuring that resources allocated under the Disability Fund continue to reach deserving beneficiaries and translate into meaningful improvements in their lives.
Hon. Boakye further encouraged beneficiaries to make prudent use of the support provided to sustain their businesses and serve as role models for others within the disability community.
The New Juaben South Municipal Assembly has over the years intensified efforts to promote the welfare of persons with disabilities through educational assistance, the provision of assistive devices and economic empowerment initiatives aimed at fostering inclusive and sustainable development.
