The series of sod-cutting ceremonies was led by the Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, and included the area’s Member of Parliament and First Deputy Speaker, Hon. Bernard Ahiafor, and the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Daniel Dagba. They were joined by local party executives and officials from the District Health Service and Education Directorate.
The multi-project initiative directly targets key areas of community need: healthcare, education, and clean water access.
The newly launched projects include:
- Healthcare: Construction of new CHPS Compounds at Ahlepedo, Wodome, and Zuta, and a major renovation of the Wute Health Center.
- Education: A six-unit classroom block at Zuta; a six-unit classroom block with office, staff common room, and library at Akatsi Duowodome; and a two-unit classroom block with office and store at Dzuepe.
- Water Access: Drilling and mechanization of 20 boreholes at strategic sites, including the Wute Health Centre, Ahlepedo CHPS Compound, and the Avenor Technical Institute.
Addressing attendees, Regional Minister Hon. James Gunu highlighted the collaborative nature of the effort. "This launch is a testament to what we can achieve when all arms of government work in unison to address the development needs of our people," he stated.
MP Hon. Bernard Ahiafor emphasized that the projects were a direct answer to community appeals. "These are not imposed projects; they are the prioritized needs of our communities, now being realized," he said.
MCE Hon. Daniel Dagba committed the Assembly's full dedication to project supervision. "Our oversight will be unwavering to ensure these projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards," he pledged.
Upon completion, the projects are expected to dramatically improve public service delivery, reduce student congestion, enhance healthcare access, and provide reliable clean water, thereby lifting living standards for residents across Akatsi South.
