This commitment follows a series of targeted operations aimed at tackling pressing sanitation and urban management challenges.
During a recent inspection, Mr. Nkansah led a team from the Assembly to an unauthorized dump site located near the ICGC premises in Ayigbe Town.
The inspection revealed extensive indiscriminate waste disposal, which poses significant environmental and public health risks to the community.
Describing the situation as "highly unacceptable," the MCE emphasized the urgent need for a coordinated, nationwide approach to waste management.
He acknowledged that while local assemblies are making strides at the grassroots level, substantial progress will necessitate active collaboration among government agencies, the private sector, and the general public.
In addition, Hon. Nkansah announced that the Assembly will soon implement stricter measures to combat illegal dumping and improve sanitation standards across the municipality.
In a related effort, the MCE spearheaded a decongestion exercise aimed at clearing public roads and spaces that have been misused for unauthorized activities. Many streets in Ablekuma Central have increasingly become informal car repair sites, leading to traffic congestion and inconvenience for residents and commuters.
Mr. Nkansah issued a stern warning to individuals who abandon vehicles on the roadside under the guise of repairs, labeling this practice a public nuisance. He directed that such vehicles be promptly removed and relocated to authorized garages.
To enforce these directives, the Assembly plans to deploy municipal guards in the coming days to ensure strict adherence to local by-laws. Abandoned vehicles will be towed, and offenders will face penalties in accordance with local regulations.
This proactive approach by the MCE underscores the Assembly's dedication to enhancing the quality of life for residents of Ablekuma Central through improved sanitation and urban management.
