This initiative has been strategically designed to foster community involvement and address persistent sanitation challenges across the municipality.

During the exercise, several critical sanitation activities took place. Choked drains, a recurring cause of flooding and environmental degradation, were effectively desilted, ensuring better water flow and drainage in the area. Additionally, overgrown vegetation around community spaces was cleared, enhancing the overall aesthetic appeal and hygiene of the environment.

The Municipal Chief Executive of the area Eric Stanley Acquah said these efforts do not only improve public health conditions but also contribute to the beautification of the Ahenbrom Electoral Area. Roland Koomson, the Assembly Member representing the Ahenbrom Electoral Area, earned special recognition for his unwavering dedication and hands-on involvement in coordinating and ensuring the smooth execution of the cleanup exercise. His leadership has played a vital role in mobilizing resources and encouraging active participation among residents.

“The ongoing introduction of electoral area based cleanup activities is gradually reviving the spirit of communal labour among residents. This renewed community engagement demonstrates an important shift toward collective responsibility for local sanitation and environmental upkeep. The Municipal Assembly hopes these exercises will continue to inspire citizens to take pride in their surroundings and actively contribute to maintaining a clean and healthy environment, he added”.

The MCE emphasized the importance of active leadership participation, stating that for any initiative to be truly encouraging and successful, leaders must be directly involved. He noted that if a leader remains confined to the office while sanitation activities take place outside, it sends the wrong message. He called on everyone, without exception, to actively engage in the cleanup efforts to ensure their effectiveness and sustainability.

He further said these organized efforts, individual and corporate responsibility has also been observed at the grassroots level. Notably, the Chief Executive Officer and staff of Sylene Catering Services, situated off the Culem Nananom road, voluntarily took it upon themselves to clean the stretch of road around their business premises. This gesture exemplifies civic mindedness and the positive role that businesses can play in fostering community cleanliness.

The MCE expressed its gratitude to all participants and stakeholders involved in the cleanup exercise and encouraged continued collective action. Such initiatives are crucial in building resilient, healthy communities and ensuring that the environmental wellbeing of Mankessim is safeguarded for future generations.

The cleanup operation witnessed commendable collaboration among various stakeholders, including the Municipal Assembly's staff, security agencies, personnel from Zoomlion Company Limited, members of the local media, and residents of the Ahenbrom Electoral Area.
