The tour, which covered schools across the East, West and Central Zones of the district, was aimed at welcoming first-time learners into the school environment, particularly children entering Kindergarten (KG), while encouraging pupils to develop a positive attitude towards education.

The initiative was supported by the Talensi District Assembly, which provided educational materials to assist the District Directorate of Education in making the occasion meaningful for the children.

Among the schools visited were Sheaga Basic School, Gaare Basic School, Gbane ‘B’ Basic School, St. Thomas Aquinas Basic School and Guborigo KG.

During the visits, the DCE and the District Director of Education interacted with pupils and teachers and presented items including pencils, exercise books, erasers, crayons and selected school uniforms to pupils in KG and lower primary.

Addressing the pupils, Hon. Nabwomya encouraged them to take their education seriously, reminding them that the classroom serves as the foundation upon which their future careers and aspirations can be built.

He told the children that through education, they could grow to become teachers, nurses, police officers, lawyers, doctors, Members of Parliament and even Presidents.

The DCE further urged the pupils to attend school regularly, respect their parents, teachers and elders, and avoid behaviours that could negatively affect their education and future.

Hon. Nabwomya particularly cautioned the children against being attracted to illegal mining activities, popularly known as galamsey, stressing the dangers such activities pose to both their health and education.

He encouraged them to remain focused on their studies and build a better future for themselves, their families and their communities.

The DCE also called on teachers to continue giving their best in educating, guiding and nurturing the children, emphasising the critical role teachers play in shaping the next generation.

The tour forms part of the Talensi District Assembly's broader commitment to supporting education and creating an enabling environment for children across the district to learn, grow and realise their full potential.

The My First Day at School activities provided an opportunity for the Assembly and the District Education Directorate not only to welcome first-time learners but also to reinforce the message that every child in Talensi deserves the opportunity to receive quality education and build a brighter future
