The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Mr Joseph Amankwah, announced the intervention during an interview on GhanAkoma, hosted by Sir John, saying the initiative was aimed at improving teaching and learning conditions in schools.

He said the desks had been procured for schools in communities affected by the shortage, as well as other areas within the municipality, to ensure that more pupils had access to appropriate furniture.

Mr Amankwah explained that the furniture comprised university-standard tables and chairs, alongside metal-made teachers' desks.

He added that the distribution exercise would be carried out over two days, with the Assembly working to ensure that the furniture reached the beneficiary schools.

The MCE further disclosed that the Assembly had set a target of providing all basic schools in the municipality with adequate furniture before 2028.

As part of the plan, he said, the Assembly intended to gradually phase out wooden desks and tables and replace them with the new furniture to improve classroom conditions.
