Keta Municipal Assembly Empowers 50 PWDs with DACF Support

The Keta Municipal Assembly has extended financial support to 50 Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) using funds from the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) as part of efforts to promote economic empowerment, inclusion, and self-reliance.

The support was presented during a brief ceremony, where the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Wisdom Seade, encouraged beneficiaries to utilise the funds judiciously to improve their livelihoods and reduce dependency. He reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to protecting the welfare of vulnerable groups and ensuring that development reaches all segments of society.

Hon. Seade noted that the intervention aligns with government’s broader social protection agenda and reflects the Assembly’s resolve to create equal opportunities for Persons with Disabilities within the municipality.

Adding her voice, the Volta Regional Chairperson of the Ghana Federation of Disability Organisations, Madam Elikplim Klu, commended the Keta Municipal Assembly for prioritising the needs of PWDs. She used the occasion to call on the public to end stigma and discrimination against Persons with Disabilities, stressing that inclusion is key to sustainable development.

Beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the Assembly for the timely support and pledged to invest the funds in income-generating activities to build better and more sustainable livelihoods.

The initiative underscores the Keta Municipal Assembly’s commitment to inclusive governance, social protection, and economic empowerment, particularly for vulnerable groups within the municipality.
