The engagement, held on 25 September 2026, brought together representatives of about 60 landlord and landlady associations to discuss issues affecting residents and property owners, as well as identify ways to support the Assembly's development agenda.

Key issues discussed included revenue mobilisation, the condition of roads, drainage challenges, access to potable water and the payment of property rates.

During the meeting, the Assembly highlighted the importance of effective revenue mobilisation in supporting development projects and improving the delivery of municipal services. Property rates, in particular, were identified as an important source of internally generated funds that could help finance infrastructure and other development interventions. The Assembly also used the platform to engage participants on the need for property owners and residents to fulfil their civic responsibilities by paying approved rates and other statutory levies.

Discussions further focused on infrastructure challenges within communities, particularly poor road conditions and inadequate drainage systems, which affect movement, sanitation and the general living conditions of residents.

Access to potable water was also raised as an important concern requiring continued attention and collaboration between the Assembly and relevant stakeholders.

The engagement provided an opportunity for the landlord and landlady associations to share their concerns make recommendations and contribute to discussions on the development priorities of the municipality.

The Assembly emphasised that effective local governance requires continuous dialogue with community groups, property owners and other stakeholders to ensure that development plans respond to the actual needs of residents.
