Mr. Frank Sakyi Amoyaw, the Project Quantity Surveyor, disclosed this during a visit by the to the site.
Mr. Amoyaw said despite the change of government following outcome of the Election 2024, the contractors had remained on site to ensure the project was completed as scheduled.
“Our focus is to see this project through to the end, and we are committed to delivering it for the people of Kadjebi and beyond,” he said.
He noted that a recent inspection by officials from the Architectural and Engineering Services Limited (AESL) and the Ministry of Finance earned the project team commendation for the progress made so far.
“When completed, the hospital will include modern wards, surgical theatres, maternity and pediatric units, laboratories, and residential facilities for the staff, making it a key health investment in the Oti Region,” he said.
Mr. Amoyaw, however, appealed for the timely release of funds to enable contractors to complete the hospital on schedule saying, “We need financial support to bring the project to completion so it can serve its purpose of saving lives.”
Community Expectations
Residents of Kadjebi and surrounding towns have long awaited the completion of the facility, which is expected to ease pressure on existing health centres and reduce travel distances for critical care.
Currently, many patients are referred to hospitals in Jasikan, Hohoe, or even Ho for specialised treatment, often at great cost and inconvenience.
Ms Justine Korkor Amegatse, a trader at Kadjebi, said that when completed, the hospital would bring relief to mothers and children who usually struggle to access timely healthcare.
“We cannot wait for it to be finished. Many lives will be saved here,” she said.
Background on Agenda 111
The Agenda 111 initiative, launched by the Government of Ghana, aims to build 111 modern hospitals across the country, to improve access to quality healthcare.
The Kadjebi 100-bed hospital is equipped with essential infrastructure, staff accommodation, and specialised wards to support universal health coverage.
The Kadjebi project started in March 2022 by Core Construction Ltd, a construction firm, and when completed, will not only serve the district but also communities in neighbouring communities including Jasikan, Biakoye, Guan, and parts of Togo due to its strategic location.
The Road Ahead
While optimism remains high, stakeholders are urging consistent funding and monitoring, to ensure the project does not stall at its current stage. For the people of Kadjebi, the 75 per cent completion mark is not just a statistic but a symbol of hope that quality healthcare is finally within reach.
