The initiative forms part of the assembly’s broader sanitation strategy which aligns with the president’s directive for monthly cleanup exercise.

The DCE disclosed in an interview with Ghanadistricts.com that the sixteen day evacuation project is fully funded by the assembly and includes plans to position containers at strategic locations across the district.

In addition to solid waste management, the assembly also plans to renovate and build modern toilet, with the DCE stressing the need for hygienic options for the undeserved communities.

Mr. Awuni also drew attention to water access issues revealing that 47 out of 99 communities in the District still lack potable water and appealed to NGOs and philanthropists to support efforts to close the water gap.

The DCE said the assembly remains committed in ensuring lasting improvement in the lives of the residents.

The clean-up is part of the wider campaign to enhance public health and environmental hygiene.
