The consignment, received from the Ministry of Food and Agriculture under the leadership of the sector Minister, Hon. Eric Opoku, forms part of the government's efforts to enhance agricultural productivity, improve food security, and support farmers with essential farm inputs.
According to Hon. Opoku Plus Sampson, the fertilizer will soon be distributed to farmers in all electoral areas of the municipality through a fair and transparent process to ensure that the support reaches the intended beneficiaries.
He explained that the intervention is expected to reduce production costs for farmers, increase crop yields, and contribute significantly to food production and economic growth within the municipality.
The MCE expressed profound appreciation to the Ministry of Food and Agriculture and the Minister, Hon. Eric Opoku, for their continued commitment to supporting farmers and strengthening Ghana's agricultural sector through the timely supply of agricultural inputs.
Hon. Opoku Plus Sampson also commended the Ahafo Regional Minister, Hon. Charity Gardiner, for her leadership and dedication in ensuring that critical agricultural inputs are delivered promptly to farming communities across the region.
He assured farmers that the Municipal Assembly, in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture, would soon announce the modalities for the distribution exercise, emphasizing that transparency, fairness, and accountability would guide the process.
The MCE therefore appealed to farmers to remain patient as arrangements are finalized to ensure the equitable distribution of the fertilizer across the municipality.
He reaffirmed the Assembly's commitment to working closely with the Ministry of Food and Agriculture and other stakeholders to promote sustainable agriculture, improve farmers' livelihoods, and accelerate the socio-economic development of the Tano North Municipality.
The fertilizer distribution is expected to provide a major boost to farming activities during the 2026 cropping season and reinforce the government's commitment to strengthening food production and ensuring national food security.
