Asutifi South Assembly, GEA Empower Artisans and Persons with Disabilities with Livelihood Support

The Ghana Enterprise Agency (GEA), through its Business Advisory Centre (BAC), in collaboration with the Asutifi South District Assembly, has distributed livelihood support items to artisans and Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) at Dadiesoaba to promote economic empowerment and inclusive development.

The distribution programme, led by the District Chief Executive for Asutifi South, Hon. Assabil Dorko Benjamin, forms part of ongoing efforts to improve the livelihoods of vulnerable groups and strengthen local entrepreneurship across the district.

A wide range of livelihood-enhancing items was presented to beneficiaries based on their specific needs and occupations. Persons with

Disabilities received sheep, charcoal, wheelchairs, deep freezers, provisions, hairdressing equipment, and educational support to help them establish or expand income-generating activities and improve their quality of life.

Artisans also benefited from the intervention. Masons, plumbers, auto electricians, painters, barbers, and other skilled tradespeople were equipped with essential working tools, including mortar mixers, wheelbarrows, tiling sets, hair clippers, tool bags, and hacksaws, to enhance their productivity and support the growth of their businesses.

Addressing beneficiaries, Hon. Assabil Dorko Benjamin reaffirmed the Assembly's commitment to creating economic opportunities for all residents, particularly vulnerable groups and small-scale entrepreneurs. He encouraged recipients to make effective and responsible use of the items to improve their livelihoods, create employment opportunities, and contribute to the socio-economic development of the district.

Officials of the Ghana Enterprise Agency noted that the initiative reflects the agency's mandate to promote entrepreneurship, support micro and small enterprises, and improve the economic resilience of communities through targeted business development interventions.

Beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the Ghana Enterprise Agency and the Asutifi South District Assembly for the timely support, describing the intervention as a significant boost to their businesses and personal development.

The Assembly reiterated its commitment to working with development partners to implement programmes that promote entrepreneurship, reduce poverty, and improve the living standards of residents throughout the Asutifi South District.
