The project, which is scheduled for completion within four months, will be supervised by the Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA) to ensure quality work and timely delivery. It is being co-sponsored by the Government of Canada and the Tema Metropolitan Assembly, highlighting a strong partnership aimed at strengthening healthcare infrastructure at the community level.

The new Neonatal Unit is expected to improve access to specialised care for newborns, enhance the facility’s capacity to handle complicated deliveries, and provide a safer, more conducive environment for neonatal care.

When completed, the facility is anticipated to reduce referrals to tertiary hospitals and significantly improve health outcomes for premature and critically ill babies in Tema Manhean and its surrounding communities.
