The delegation was received by the hospital’s Medical Director, Dr. Mrs. Mavis Amoako, alongside members of management and senior staff.

During the visit, Hon. Tsekpo engaged hospital authorities to better understand the facility’s pressing challenges and the interventions being implemented to improve services.

Speaking on behalf of management, Dr. Amoako identified the hospital’s broken-down incinerator as a major concern, noting that the situation has created difficulties in the disposal of sharp and hazardous medical waste. According to her, the hospital is currently compelled to transport such waste outside the facility for disposal. She also briefed the delegation on plans and a proposed site for the establishment of a mortuary at the hospital.

The Municipal Chief Executive also inspected ongoing works on the hospital’s Emergency Unit and Dialysis Centre projects, being undertaken by the Member of Parliament through the Municipal Assembly. He expressed satisfaction with the progress and quality of work completed so far.

Hon. Tsekpo further commended management for the vision behind the proposed mortuary project and assured the hospital authorities that the matter would receive further attention and discussion.

As part of the tour, the delegation inspected the hospital’s generator facility, where management appealed for support in securing an alternative power source to ensure uninterrupted healthcare services.

Hospital management also presented several additional concerns and requests to the Municipal Chief Executive, who assured them of his commitment to collaborating with relevant stakeholders to help address the challenges confronting the facility.

On behalf of the hospital’s management and staff, Dr. Amoako expressed appreciation to Hon. Freeman Tsekpo and the Health Committee for the visit, engagement, and assurances of support aimed at improving healthcare delivery within the municipality.
