.The relief package, consisting of food items, clothing, mattresses, buckets, bowls, mosquito nets, and other essential household supplies worth millions of cedis, was made possible through the support of the Government of Ghana and corporate partners within the municipality. The intervention forms part of the Assembly's emergency response to provide immediate assistance to families whose homes and LIVELIHOODS were impacted by the heavy rains.

Addressing beneficiaries during the distribution exercise, Hon. Totimeh stated that the donation was made on behalf of H.E. President John Dramani Mahama, the Tema West Municipal Assembly, and the Member of Parliament for Tema West, Hon. Lawyer James Enu, as a demonstration of solidarity with affected residents and to help ease the immediate hardships caused by the flooding.

The Municipal Chief Executive acknowledged the extensive damage caused by the floods, noting that many families had lost mattresses, cooking utensils, food supplies, and other valuable household belongings. He assured residents that the Assembly would undertake a comprehensive assessment of all affected households to facilitate additional support where necessary.

As part of the Assembly's recovery efforts, Hon. Totimeh announced that compactors had been deployed to remove refuse from the affected communities at no cost to residents. He added that sanitation personnel had also been assigned to support the clean-up exercise to help restore environmental cleanliness and reduce the risk of disease outbreaks.

The MCE further appealed to residents to desist from indiscriminate dumping of refuse into gutters and drainage channels, stressing that such practices contribute significantly to flooding by obstructing the free flow of stormwater. He encouraged community members to work together to protect the municipality's drainage infrastructure and maintain a clean environment.

Hon. Totimeh also called on residents to remain united and cooperate with community leaders to ensure the transparent and equitable distribution of the relief items to those most severely affected by the disaster.

The Presiding Member and Assembly Member for the Baatsona Electoral Area, Hon. Abraham Dawuda, expressed gratitude to H.E. President John Dramani Mahama, the Member of Parliament, and the Municipal Chief Executive for their timely intervention. He noted that the donated food items, cooking oil, sanitation materials, and other relief supplies would provide much-needed support to affected families and contribute significantly to the community's recovery efforts.

The Tema West Municipal Assembly remains committed to supporting disaster-affected communities through coordinated relief interventions, improved sanitation measures, and long-term initiatives aimed at building resilient and flood-safe communities.
