At a presentation ceremony held at the assembly’s forecourt, District Chief Executive Ceaser Ofosu Acheampong disclosed that 45 beneficiaries received livelihood support items, including refrigerators, industrial sewing machines, fufu processing machines, and wheelchairs. He added that 60 others received cash grants as start-up capital to expand their existing businesses. Additionally, 10 students with disabilities benefited from educational support, while seven had their medical bills fully settled.

Mr. Acheampong noted that the disbursement was carried out in close consultation with leaders of various PWD groups to ensure the assistance addressed their priority needs. He described the intervention as part of the government’s broader commitment to reducing poverty among PWDs, discouraging street begging, and creating sustainable income opportunities. He reaffirmed the assembly’s dedication to transparency and fairness in managing the fund and urged beneficiaries to make the best use of the support to improve their living conditions.

Mr. Gideon Osei Poku, Head of the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development, commended the recipients for their resilience and emphasized the importance of properly maintaining the equipment. He assured that his department would conduct follow-up monitoring to ensure the long-term sustainability of the support.
