The engagement formed part of the Assembly's efforts to promote participatory governance, strengthen revenue mobilisation and ensure that local businesses, residents and other stakeholders have an opportunity to contribute to decisions concerning fees and charges in the district.

The meeting provided a platform for the Assembly to present its revenue and expenditure performance for the first half of 2026, while allowing stakeholders to examine the district's financial position and contribute to discussions on improving local revenue generation.

During the engagement, participants were taken through aspects of the Assembly's revenue and expenditure performance, with presentations highlighting the importance of effective financial management and accountability in the delivery of development programmes.

The preparation of the 2027 Fee Fixing Resolution was a key component of the meeting. The resolution is expected to provide the framework for the fees, rates and charges to be collected by the Assembly from businesses, property owners, traders and other ratepayers in the coming year.

The consultation also formed part of the Assembly's broader efforts to strengthen its Internally Generated Funds (IGF), which remain an important source of financing for local development projects and the provision of essential services.

By involving stakeholders in the fee-fixing process, the Assembly seeks to promote transparency, encourage public participation and improve cooperation between the local authority and residents in meeting its revenue targets.
