The exercise was in response to a directive from the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Linda Obenewaa Akweley Ocloo, for all metropolitan, municipal and district assemblies (MMDAs) in the region to hold clean-up exercises on the last Friday of every month.

The exercise, which started at about 0600 hours and ended at midday, was carried out by officials of the ASHMA, Security Services, Zoomlion Ghana Limited and some residents in the area.

The exercise began at the Ashaiman main bus terminal through the Mandela Park, Ashaiman main market, Kufour market and ended at the China mall.
