The effort, funded by the DCE, aimed to restore the Mankran River, which serves the Mankranso community, after it was blocked and polluted by galamsey activities.
The reclamation exercise also aligns with the government's "Tree for Life" initiative, designed to restore degraded lands.
Mr. Sedik warned individuals and groups engaged in mining activities within the district to cease operations immediately and obtain necessary documents from the District Assembly.
"The DCE, Mr. Sedik Abubakar, issued a stern warning that any galamsey equipment discovered on-site would be confiscated if operators did not adhere to the directives.
He further called upon the Minerals Commission, non-governmental organizations, and corporate entities to provide assistance in rehabilitating the district's degraded lands destroyed by illegal mining activities."
