A statement issued and signed by Mr Daniel Fenyi, Head of Public Relations, said the results were also a credible representation of students’ abilities.
Setting the record straight on matters surrounding the 2025 WASSCE, the statement said the Ministry of Education and GES had, prior to the examinations, issued a firm directive that any teacher or official who aided or abetted malpractice would be sanctioned.
It said the 2025 WASSCE was conducted under heightened invigilation, strengthened supervision and strict adherence to examination protocols across all centres.
These measures, it noted, led to the arrest of some students and staff who attempted to engage in malpractice.
The outcome demonstrated progress towards restoring integrity in the examination process, noting that a credible system served the best interest of students, schools and the nation, the statement said.
It recalled that Ghana had moved from the Ghana-only WASSCE introduced under the previous administration to rejoin the international WASSCE to be written by all West African member countries in May/June 2026.
It urged students to prepare adequately, adding that management would not compromise the integrity of the examinations.
“GES will continue to work closely with all stakeholders; heads of schools, teachers, students, parents, communities, civil society organisations and WAEC, to improve teaching, learning and the integrity of the examinations,” it said.
It also dismissed claims by former Minister of Education, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, suggesting that students’ performance resulted from unsupportive GES management practices.
The Service said it had not cancelled any allowances due teachers, as alleged, and noted that the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department had already clarified the reasons for the non-payment of November allowances.
It urged the public to disregard comments by the former Minister, describing them as an attempt to deflect attention from his shortcomings in managing the examination process.
The West African Examinations Council on Saturday released the provisional 2025 WASSCE results, cancelling the entire results of 653 candidates and the subject results of 6,295 candidates.
