ER Minister commissions four CHIPS Compounds and Nurses’s Quarters in Yilo Krobo

The Eastern Regional Minister, Mrs. Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey, today, Tuesday, 20th January 2026, commissioned and handed over for community use four Community Based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds and a Nurses’ Quarters in the Yilo Krobo Municipality.

The facilities are expected to provide primary healthcare services, including maternal and child healthcare, family planning, and disease prevention programmes, among others.

The beneficiary communities for the CHPS compounds are Aketebour, Aboa Osuboninya, Akorwu Bana, and Aboabo, while the Nurses’ Quarters is located at Klo Agogo.

Commissioning the facilities, the Minister emphasized the importance of community engagement and participation in maintaining them to ensure sustainability. She said the facilities form part of ongoing efforts by the Government to strengthen and expand healthcare infrastructure at the community level and bring essential health services closer to residents, particularly in rural communities.

Mrs. Awatey reiterated the Government’s commitment to improving healthcare delivery across the Region, noting that CHPS compounds play a critical role in preventive healthcare, early detection of illnesses, and the delivery of maternal and child health services.


She urged health personnel to be posted to the facilities to demonstrate a high sense of professionalism, dedication, and respect in the discharge of their duties.

Mrs. Awatey entreated community members to take ownership of the facilities and support their proper maintenance.

The Minister emphasized that investment in health infrastructure must translate into quality service delivery, stressing the importance of effective management, community cooperation, and responsible use of the facilities to achieve the intended impact.
