Bono Minister earns praises of Chiefs and People of three Dormaa Districts for Massive Development

The provision and improvement of basic infrastructure, in the various sectors, such as health, education, agriculture, infrastructure through "Big Push" road projects, access to water through mechanized boreholes in rural areas for quality drinking water across the 3 three Districts were some of the projects residents expressed their satisfaction of good governance.
The people made these pronouncements when the Minister toured the 3 districts as part of 'Accounting to the People's tour' of the Region to inspect key development projects and engage with stakeholders to forge ahead for better development.
Nana Kwasi Paa, the Krontihene of Nkrankwanta, who chaired a grand durbar organized in honour of the Minister described the Minister's visit as historic for the district. He praised him and the government for the massive infrastructure boost and development in the district in just one year and made a passionate appeal to the Regional Minister and the government to speed up and complete work on the Nkrankwanta - Dormaa road on time. At Adukrom, at Dormaa West, Nana Ama Yeboah, the Queen mother of the community also praised the Minister for the massive development brought to them, after inspecting a six-unit classroom in the community and appealed for a CHPS compound to make health facility closer to the people especially, for pregnant women. From community to community the Minister visited to inspect the projects, the chiefs and the people praised him and the government for bringing them development.
In a grand durbar to roundup the District Accountability tour by the Regional Minister at Dormaa West, Mr. Stephen Azorba Awuni, the District Chief Executive (DCE) in his address said significant progress has been made in infrastructure delivery across the district, including Road development and rehabilitation, Market infrastructure expansion, public facility improvements and noted that these projects were aimed at improving accessibility, economic activity, and service delivery. Mr. Awuni reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to transparency, citizen engagement, and responsive governance, emphasizing that the durbar itself forms part of efforts to strengthen accountability to the people.
Mr. Vicent Oppong Asamoah, the Member of Parliament for Dormaa West highlighted key development initiatives within the district, notably the Yamoransa Model Lab, which continues to enhance digital learning and ICT integration in education. He further elaborated on the Government’s One Million Coders Initiative, aimed at building digital skills among the youth, and assured that the Dormaa West District will significantly benefit from this national programme. The MP also appealed to Traditional Authorities for the release of land for development purposes and pledged to facilitate the construction of a durbar grounds to support community engagement and public programmes.
Touching on infrastructure for Dormaa Municipality, the MCE, Mr. Dominic Adoma Ameyaw said the Assembly under rehabilitation, upgraded and reshaped about 35km roads aimed at reducing travelling time for residents who commute to and fro for their daily activities in the Municipality. He added that the Assembly has drilled and installed 13 different hand pumps different communities and 10 mechanized boreholes to provide access to safe drinking water to the people in the Municipality.
On key achievements, Mr. Dominic noted the Assembly received and distributed 10,000 births to individuals under ‘nkoko nkitikiti’ programme as well as 10,000 coconut pieces of coconut seedlings to individuals in the Municipality under the Presidential initiative programme. Under the National Apprenticeship programme, he added over 235 youth were trained on employable skills, grooming them as future entrepreneurs.
Osei Owusu King, the DCE for Dormaa East in his address said the Assembly within the one year drilled and mechanized 10 Boreholes at selected communities and has also created more access roads than ever easing travel time and transportation of foodstuff from farming communities. He noted the Assembly received and distributed 10,068 births to individuals under ‘nkoko nkitikiti’ programme. Also, 705 of fertilizer was received and distributed to farmers as well
Mr. Joseph Addae Akwaboa Esq, Bono Regional Minister in his address commended the MPs and MDCEs in the 3 Districts for their leadership and developmental efforts. He emphasized Government’s commitment to accountability and transparency, noting that the Government Accountability Series reflects the President’s directive to ensure that governance is brought closer to the people. At the Districts, the Minister and his officials inspected projects, had engagement with stakeholders and hold grand durbars to roundup the tour.
The Minister further highlighted ongoing road infrastructure projects on “Big Push” roads such as Sunyani ring roads of 34km of which work has started, Jinijini to Sampa Road of 80km and Wenchi to Nsawkaw through Debibi to Sampa and Berekum inner roads. From Berekum to Seikwa road and from Dormaa to Nkrankwanta has also been awarded to a contractor, including Nkrankwanta town roads and all are under construction. He noted that construction was also ongoing from Atronie to Acherensua under Government of Ghana and Newmont Ahafo Mines partnership. He hinted that HE President John Mahama has inspected site for the construction of new airport for Bono Region at Nsoatre and very soon sod cutting would follow for construction to start.
Mr. Akwaboa noted that all government hospitals in the Bono Region were built by the NDC government and regional hospital, now a Teaching Hospital was built by the late H.E JJ Rawlings. He assured that the current NDC Government has pledged to provide equip the hospital and so far, two dialysis machines have been provided through Mahama Care. He outlined government’s interventions to address challenges within the cocoa sector and assured the people that was the current government was focus to deliver to its mandate.
