The intervention follows a flood incident on June 19, 2026, which affected several residents and displaced families in Apagya and Afrancho, leaving them in need of immediate assistance and support.

The relief items presented to the affected households included mattresses, buckets, cups, plates, blankets, mosquito nets, cooking oil, rice, soap and other essential household supplies.

Speaking during the presentation, Hon. Patricia Pearl Ankrah expressed sympathy to the affected families and assured them of the Assembly’s continued commitment to supporting residents affected by disasters and other unforeseen challenges.

She encouraged the beneficiaries to remain hopeful as they recover from the impact of the floods and urged residents to adopt appropriate precautionary measures to minimise the effects of future flooding.

The Head of NADMO, Mr. Ciba Garba, also called on residents to avoid constructing buildings and other structures on waterways. He further urged communities to keep gutters and drainage channels free from refuse to ensure the free flow of water and reduce the risk of flooding.

The beneficiaries expressed their appreciation to the DCE, NADMO and the Afigya Kwabre South District Assembly for the timely intervention, noting that the relief items would provide much-needed support as they worked to rebuild their lives after the disaster.
