Speaking on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama, the Mayor emphasized the importance of the festival — a time for sacrifice, love, and obedience to Allah, inspired by Prophet Ibrahim’s faith.

He highlighted the President’s efforts to support the Muslim community which includes the reduction of Hajj costs to make the pilgrimage more affordable as well as building a new Hajj facility to support pilgrims.

He noted that the government is also training Muslim nurses and midwives to serve the unique needs of Islamic patients, adding that plans are already underway to build a new assembly hall for an Islamic school in Kumasi.

He advised the youth to be disciplined, avoid reckless riding, and obey the law, stressing that no one will be spared for unlawful acts.

He concluded by reminding all Ghanaians, regardless of religion, to be law-abiding and responsible citizens to help move the nation forward.
