He noted Parliament's evolution from rigid partisanship to a cooperative multiparty environment and cautioned that partisanship only undermined democracy when misused.

Mr. Bagbin emphasised the centrality of committee work, urging MPs to specialise and prepare diligently to ensure effective representation.

He clarified that parliamentary privileges safeguarded the people’s voice, not personal favours, and called for renewed attention to constitutional provisions on local assembly welfare.

The Speaker pledged to strengthen decentralisation by ensuring Parliament determines allocations such as the District Assemblies Common Fund.

He expressed the hope for Ghana’s Parliament to become a globally admired institution and urged unity in diversity while rejecting divisive narratives.

Responding to criticisms about his attire, Mr. Bagbin said parliamentary dress reflects cultural pride and tradition.

He commended MPs for their contributions and assured them of continuous support in their legislative work.
