He said the selection places the Municipality in a strategic position to boost agricultural productivity, with access to a wide range of mechanisation support and modern farming equipment including tractors, tillers, cultivators, fertilizer spreaders, mowers, ploughs, harvesters and harrows.

Mr Magyigbe disclosed this during the Municipality’s 41st National Farmers’ Day celebration held at Buem-Odumase on the theme: “Feed Ghana, Eat Ghana, Secure the Future.”

He expressed appreciation to Mr Kofi Iddie Adams, Member of Parliament for the Buem Constituency, for his support in helping the Municipality secure the project.

Expanding on the theme, the MCE said “Eat Ghana” encourages citizens to choose locally grown foods to strengthen the domestic agricultural economy, while “Feed Ghana” emphasises investment in modern technologies such as mechanisation, irrigation and climate-smart practices. “Secure the Future,” he added, focuses on empowering young people to view agriculture as a viable profession for long-term

sustainability.

He said the FSC programme would provide farmers with reliable access to mechanisation services and technical support to improve yields, reduce manual labour and expand farmlands—interventions essential to strengthening food systems and long- term food security.

The MCE commended awardees for their contribution to local economic development and assured farmers of the Assembly’s continued support.

Mr Moses Anekah, Jasikan Municipal Director of Food and Agriculture, advised farmers to apply agrochemicals responsibly and consult extension officers for technical guidance to improve yields and safeguard the environment.

A total of 11 farmers and institutions were honoured, with 45-year-old Nana Suleman Somala from Oppong-Akura adjudged the Overall Municipal Best Farmer. Prizes presented include Wellington boots, cutlasses, fertilizers, refrigerators, spraying machines, tricycles, roofing sheets, agrochemicals and certificates.
