The exercise, which took place at the forecourt of the District Agriculture Department, saw each beneficiary receive two bags of fertilizer, two bottles of weedicide, three pairs of Wellington boots, and two cutlasses to support their farming activities.

Addressing the beneficiaries, the District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Emmanuel Obeng-Agyemang, reaffirmed the importance of agriculture to Ghana’s economy, stressing that farmers deserve continuous support and recognition for their immense contribution to national development and food security.

He noted that the intervention aligns with President John Dramani Mahama’s vision of strengthening food security and promoting practical agricultural education to improve livelihoods and sustain economic growth.

“Farmers should never be taken for granted. By providing them with the necessary support, we are enabling them to produce nutritious food for households, generate income to support their families, and impart valuable farming skills to the younger generation,” he said.

Hon. Obeng-Agyemang explained that equipping farmers with essential inputs would help increase crop yields and build resilient farming communities capable of meeting the food demands of the growing population.

Beneficiary farmers expressed appreciation to the Assembly for the support, describing it as timely assistance that would help reduce production costs and improve productivity during the current farming season.

The initiative forms part of the Assembly’s broader commitment to promoting agriculture, empowering local farmers, and contributing to national efforts aimed at ensuring sustainable food production and improved livelihoods.
