Shai-Osudoku: Road Reshaping Begins as Ramatown and Flatland Residents Get Relief

Residents of Ramatown, Flatland and surrounding communities in the Shai-Osudoku District of the Greater Accra Region are set to enjoy improved road access as the District Assembly has commenced a major road reshaping exercise across the area.

The intervention, being undertaken by the Shai-Osudoku District Assembly in collaboration with the Member of Parliament and Greater Accra Regional Minister, Hon. Linda Obenewaa Akweley Ocloo, follows persistent concerns from residents about the poor condition of roads within the communities.

The ongoing works are aimed at improving accessibility and creating safer passage for motorists, pedestrians and residents, particularly in sections that have become difficult to access.

Speaking to Dodowa TV, the Shai-Osudoku District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Ignatius Godfred Dordoe, said the Assembly had listened to the concerns of residents and commenced the exercise following the return of the necessary equipment.

According to the DCE, Ramatown has an estimated 40-kilometre road network, with approximately three kilometres already receiving attention under the ongoing exercise.

He explained that the works involve reshaping existing roads, undertaking spot improvements and creating new access routes to homes and other parts of the community that have faced serious accessibility challenges.

Particular attention, he noted, is being given to sections around Flatland, where the terrain has made movement particularly difficult. He assured residents that the exercise would continue progressively until more sections of the road network are covered.

“As we've started, we will finish,” the DCE assured residents.

Hon. Dordoe also commended the people of Ramatown and Flatland for their patience and cooperation during the period of delays. He noted that the Assembly had engaged extensively with community leaders, religious leaders, women, youth and residents as part of efforts to address their concerns.

Residents who spoke to Dodowa TV expressed appreciation to the District Assembly and Hon. Linda Obenewaa Akweley Ocloo for responding to their longstanding concerns.

They said the commencement of the road reshaping exercise has brought renewed hope that movement within the communities will become easier, safer and more convenient.

With work now underway, residents are looking forward to additional sections of the Ramatown–Flatland road network receiving attention as the exercise progresses.

For communities that have waited for improved road access, the commencement of the works signals a welcome step towards better connectivity and improved mobility in Shai-Osudoku.
