Delivering his keynote address, Nana Osei Kwadwo Ansebie used the occasion to deliver a powerful message of encouragement to the backbone of the community: its farmers.
A Call for Resilience
Nana Osei Kwadwo Ansebie commended local farmers for their dedication and "resilience" in ensuring the nation's food security. He acknowledged the significant challenges they face, including recent low market prices for produce like maize and beans, climate variability, and environmental degradation.
"Despite these difficulties, you have remained steadfast," the Chief told the gathering. "I urge you to keep the faith and continue farming. Your hard work is essential to boosting food security in our country, and it shall be well."
In his address, the Babaso Chief specifically praised cocoa farmers for their "unwavering dedication" and "vital contribution" to the nation's economy, recognizing their role as a key pillar of Ghana's financial stability.
Honouring Ancestral Foundations
The spiritual aspect of the festival was led by the Chief Priest, Nana Kwadwo Addae, widely known as Komfo Joe Boye. In an interview, he explained the deeper significance of the celebration, emphasizing the importance of honouring ancestors to secure future blessings.
"The ancestors are the foundation of this community," Komfo Joe Boye stated. "Through proper ritual and gratitude, we call upon them for continued guidance and protection."
He used the platform to appeal to community members to heed the calls of their ancestors and traditional leaders (Nananom) to unite and work together in building a more developed and prosperous community.
