Empowering Persons with Disabilities in the Adansi North
The family of Humu Abubakar has expressed profound gratitude to the District Chief Executive, Hon. Charles Kofi Ogbeh, for donating a wheelchair and mattress to their dependent, who has been sick and incapacitated.

The donation was made at a ceremony at the Amoanimaa Dede II Hall, Fomena, where 25 other persons with disabilities received apprenticeship disbursements, and funds for education and health as well as items for commercial benefit.
Hon. Ogbeh advised beneficiaries to use the items for their intended purpose and not trade them, warning that the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development would apply necessary sanctions if monitoring reveals otherwise.

The DCE's donation is part of the district's efforts to support vulnerable groups and promote their welfare.
At the ceremony, Hon. Ogbeh assured the beneficiaries that the Assembly is committed to utilizing the allocated funds for PWDs from the district common fund allocation to benefit them.
He revealed that 59 persons have so far received support for education and health, and caregivers have been resourced to care of their dependents.
The District Coordinating Director, Mr. Eric Nyarko Baiden, emphasized the need for able persons to support the differently-abled, noting that disability can happen to anyone at any time.

The Presiding Member for the District Assembly, Hon. Dominic Odame Kusi advised beneficiaries to make good use of the items and promised to facilitate the acquisition of electricity for those who received chest freezers.
The Head of the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development, Mr. Midas Nkuah, assured beneficiaries that the department intends to rotate beneficiaries by the end of the government's four year tenure and that there is a likelihood of an increase of their 3% allocation to 5%.
The items distributed included chest freezers, mattress, Industrial Sewing Machines, which were received by beneficiaries from various communities in the district. Beneficiaries promised to make the most out of support received.
