Date Created : 12/8/2025 : Story Author : Yussif Ibrahim/Ghanadistricts.com
The award recognises his contributions to agriculture, where he is engaged in livestock production—cattle, goats, pigs and sheep—and crop cultivation, including cocoa farming across several communities.
For his prize, he received a tricycle, wellington boots, a knapsack sprayer, cutlasses, farm inputs, and a certificate.
A total of 16 farmers were honoured under the theme: “Feed Ghana, Eat Ghana, Secure the Future.” Mr Osei thanked the Municipal Agriculture Department and Municipal Assembly for their support and encouraged the youth to venture into agriculture, saying it had enabled him to build a hotel and support three children to travel abroad.
He appealed for soft loans for farmers to help remove financial barriers that discourage young
people from agriculture. Mr Alex Adu-Gyamfi, Municipal Director of Agriculture, urged farmers to engage extension officers to improve their practices and yields.
Mrs Eunice Ohenewaa Ansu, Municipal Chief Executive, commended farmers for their resilience and contribution to the local economy, noting that the theme reflects Ghana’s commitment to
long-term food security.
She highlighted interventions under the government’s Agriculture Modernization Agenda including poultry initiatives, the Agricultural Modernization Fund, mechanisation services, irrigation development, youth agribusiness projects and support for value addition and agro- processing, aimed at reducing imports, increasing local production and creating jobs.
